Harini Amarasooriya Harini Amarasooriya was born on 6 March 1970 in Sri Lanka . She studied at Bishop’s College in Colombo and later earned degrees from universities in India, Australia, and Scotland. She became a sociologist and teacher , spending many years teaching at the Open University of Sri Lanka. Harini cared deeply about students and worked to make education better for everyone. In 2020 , she entered politics as a Member of Parliament for the National People’s Power party . She wanted to bring positive change to her country, especially in areas like education, health, and fairness for all people. In September 2024 , she became the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka , making history as one of the few women to hold this important position. Later, she also served as the Minister of Education , showing her strong commitment to schools and learning.
