  Latha Walpola   Latha Walpola was a famous Sri Lankan singer who was born on 11 November 1934 in Bambalapitiya. Her real name was Matharage Rita Genevieve Fernando , but everyone knew her as Latha Walpola. From a young age, she loved music and sang in her school choir. Later, she became one of the most popular playback singers in Sri Lanka. People admired her sweet voice, and she sang in movies, radio programs, and concerts. She was married to another well-known singer, Dharmadasa Walpola , and together they became a famous musical couple. Latha Walpola received many awards, including the titles Deshamanya and Kalasuri , which are given to people who make great contributions to the country. She sang for more than 70 years , bringing joy to millions of listeners. Children can learn from her dedication, talent, and love for music. She passed away on 27 December 2025 , but her songs will always remain in the hearts of Sri Lankans.

Sri Lanka also has many wild animals such as elephants and leopards, and special places like Sigiriya Rock and ancient temples. The people are friendly, and they speak Sinhala, Tamil, and English. Sri Lanka is a land full of history, culture, and nature, making it a wonderful place to learn about and visit.

Gamini Fonseka

 Gamini Fonseka Gamini Fonseka was born on 21 March 1936 in Dehiwala, Sri Lanka . He loved acting and became one of the greatest stars in Sinhala cinema during the 1960s and 1970s. Many people called him the “King of Sinhala Cinema” because of his powerful acting and the many awards he won. He acted in famous films that made audiences laugh, cry, and think deeply. Later in life, Gamini also worked for the people of Sri Lanka as a politician. He was a Member of Parliament and even became the Governor of the North Eastern Province . This shows that he was not only a talented actor but also someone who wanted to help his country. Gamini Fonseka passed away on 30 September 2004 , but his movies and his service to Sri Lanka continue to inspire children and adults today.

Shah Rukh Khan

  Shah Rukh Khan Shah Rukh Khan, also known as SRK , was born on November 2, 1965, in New Delhi, India . As a child, he loved sports, acting, and spending time with his friends. Even though he did not come from a film family, he dreamed of becoming an actor. He studied at Hansraj College and later started acting in television shows in the late 1980s. His energy and talent quickly made him popular, and soon he moved to Mumbai, the center of India’s film industry. SRK’s first movies were bold and different, and people admired his confidence. Over time, he became one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, acting in more than 100 films . Many fans call him the “Baadshah of Bollywood” or “King Khan.” He has won many awards, including 14 Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri , one of India’s highest honors. Apart from acting, Shah Rukh Khan is also a film producer and businessman . He owns a production company called Red Chillies Entertainment and a cricket team named Kolkata Knight Riders...

Ranil Wickremesinghe

  Ranil Wickremesinghe Ranil Wickremesinghe is a famous leader from Sri Lanka. He was born on March 24, 1949, in Colombo , the capital city. He studied at Royal College, Colombo , and later became a lawyer before entering politics. Ranil has been the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka six times , which shows how important he has been in the country’s government. In 2022, he became the 9th President of Sri Lanka , leading the nation during a time when people faced many challenges. He belongs to the United National Party (UNP) and has been its leader since 1994. Ranil is married to Maithree Wickremesinghe , who is a university professor. As President, Ranil Wickremesinghe worked to bring stability to Sri Lanka when the country had economic problems. He has also served in different roles like Minister of Education, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Defence . Many people respect him for his long service in politics, even though he faced many ups and downs.

Upeksha Swarnamalini

 Upeksha Swarnamalini Upeksha Swarnamalini is a well-known actress and politician from Sri Lanka. She was born on June 26, 1984 in Kuwait, but grew up in Sri Lanka. Many people call her “Paba” because of her famous role in the television drama Paba , which was loved by children and adults alike. Her acting made her very popular, and she became a star in Sri Lankan cinema and television. Later, she also entered politics and served as a Member of Parliament for the Gampaha District from 2010 to 2015 . This shows that she is not only talented in acting but also wanted to help people through public service. Upeksha studied fine arts and worked hard to achieve her dreams. She is admired for her courage, her smile, and her ability to inspire young people. For children, her story teaches us that with dedication, we can shine in many different fields whether in art, acting, or even leadership.

Vijaya Kumaratunga

 Vijaya Kumaratunga Vijaya Kumaratunga was born on October 9, 1945 in Ragama, Sri Lanka. He grew up to become one of the most popular film actors in Sri Lanka, admired for his talent and warm personality. He also loved music and worked as a playback singer , bringing joy to many through his voice. Later in life, Vijaya entered politics because he wanted to help people and make Sri Lanka a fair and peaceful place for everyone. He founded the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party to share his ideas of unity and kindness. Vijaya was married to Chandrika Kumaratunga , who later became the President of Sri Lanka. Sadly, his life ended too soon when he was assassinated in 1988 at the age of 42. Even though he is no longer with us, children and adults still remember him as a hero who cared deeply for his country and its people. His story teaches us about courage, kindness, and the importance of working for peace.
