Gamini Fonseka was born on 21 March 1936 in Dehiwala, Sri Lanka. He loved acting and became one of the greatest stars in Sinhala cinema during the 1960s and 1970s. Many people called him the “King of Sinhala Cinema” because of his powerful acting and the many awards he won. He acted in famous films that made audiences laugh, cry, and think deeply. Later in life, Gamini also worked for the people of Sri Lanka as a politician. He was a Member of Parliament and even became the Governor of the North Eastern Province. This shows that he was not only a talented actor but also someone who wanted to help his country. Gamini Fonseka passed away on 30 September 2004, but his movies and his service to Sri Lanka continue to inspire children and adults today.
